BELLINGHAM, Wash. —
A double-fatal shooting at a home in the Maple Falls area of Whatcom County appears to be a murder-suicide.
Sheriff Bill Elfo told KGMI investigators believe a man killed a 14-year-old girl and turned the gun on himself.
The girl's mother was wounded. She was able to go to a neighbor's home to call for help and is now at Saint Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
Elfo says deputies responded to the call about 3:30 a.m. Thursday and found the man and girl dead in the home.
Elfo told KING-TV deputies have been called at least once before for domestic violence at the home. Maple Falls is about 20 miles northeast of Bellingham.
