Women around Topeka are taking a week to embrace love and stop violence.

That's the theme for the YWCA's week without violence festivities.

Sunday night, the community met at Lake Shawnee and held a reflection vigil for victims of domestic violence.

Organizers of the event are trying to get one strong message across.

Laura Burton, YWCA's Public Educator says, "we want survivors of domestic violence to know that there is help and there is hope and there are a lot of people in our community who support them, who understand what's going on, who want to help in whatever way we can. Often domestic violence is a very isolating experience and we just want people to know they're not alone."
